First off the experience of selling and purchasing a home is a big deal, Mel and his team will make sure you get the best for your sale of a house. They have great contacts for all the extras needing to be done to get your house on the market (updating RPR reports, painters, plumbers, etc). The combined knowledge of Mel and his staff is amazing and any question you have always gets answered. Now, after the sale of our house we had to hurry and look for a new one. I knew I wanted to invest in Calgary but as a non resident (living on the other side of the country) and as someone who travels frequently I knew I need to find a stellar agent to help me, and that is exactly what I found in the Mel Star Team. I originally contacted Mel to discuss investment opportunities and after a 20 minute call I knew I was in professional hands. I flew out to Calgary for a few days and met with Ryan Wilson on the Mel Star team who was POLITE, COURTEOUS, PROFESSIONAL , not to mention easy going. I have bought enough homes in Canada to have dealt with some great and unfortunately also some terrible agents, so I can recognize a good one when they come along. Here is a brief list of why I am so grateful to have had Ryan as an agent for my first purchase in Calgary: 1) He's not pushy at all. Where some agents will just want you to buy whatever they offer, I always felt that Ryan was on my side. We put in an offer , but after the inspection I decided not to move forward and at no point did he second guess my decision or make me feel bad about it. 2) The second offer I put in (and incidentally the property I ended up closing with) I did not even visit! Ryan booked the viewing we did a complete virtual walk through with a video call app, and then Ryan managed the comprehensive inspection. 3) Ryan has fantastic contacts from inspectors, property managers, plumbers, and electricians and he is always available to manage the different components and professionals that go into getting quotations if there is work to be done. 4) He went above and beyond...even though he was in the middle of MOVING, with 2 small kids on HALLOWEEN he still found the time to put in an offer, revise it, submit the paper work and manage the deposit process. Honestly I cannot recommend this agency enough. Having also lived through realtor nightmares (the ones that get you to accept any offer, use fear to get you to over bid on a home, or cite how the market is crashing to get you to accept a lower than market price....) none of that happened here. Thank you to the whole team , I love the investment property that I bought and I'm looking forward to buying our family home with them as well.

I was unfortunately in a situation where I needed to move as soon as possible and they were all super accommodating in terms of arranging viewings as quickly as possible and also being really great at keeping me up-to-speed with what was going on and also giving me very honest advice. They also put me in touch with a great home inspector which ultimately saved me from buying a lemon. First with the showings and the feedback from each of those, then dealing with the eventual buyer and the back and forth negotiating.
